University of Jammu teachers have been expressing resentment and opposing new system called capping system for appointments and promotions for quite some time and have even gone on strike due to which research and teaching activities have badly suffered. University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued these fresh guidelines which have been adopted by the university authorities.
The striking teachers question about the JU authorities taking special interest in implementing the UGC Amended Regulations 2013. Should other options as a substitute to strike not be sought by the agitating teachers who are paid handsomely in comparison to the hours of duty of teaching by them ? The JU authorities should resolve the matter taking teachers into confidence so that the teaching activities do not suffer any more.
