JAMMU, Sept 30: Gandhi Nagar police today recovered stolen car and arrested a car lifter identified as Sahil Hussain son of Zahoor Hussain, a resident of Champra, Batote in Ramban district.
Police sources said the stolen car belonged to Rajesh Kumar son of Janak Rah, a resident of Nai Basti, Satwari. He had lodged written report of the car theft with Gandhi Nagar police station on September 9. The stolen car was bearing registration No. 4020 JK02H.
On getting report of the theft, Gandhi Nagar police had lodged FIR No. 227/2015 under Section 379 RPC and initiated investigations. The car was stolen from Nai Basti.
A Gandhi Nagar police station team led by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Subash Chander under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar police station Inspector Bishnesh Kumar conducted raids at various places and arrested Sahil Hussain.
From his possession, police have recovered the stolen car. The accused has been booked under various provisions of law.
Police was questioning the car lifter to ascertain whether he was involved in more car lifting cases.
