JAMMU, Feb 19: A newly developed car parking in the memory of Late Munshi Ram Mahajan, alumni of Shri Ranbir Model Higher Secondary School inaugurated by his son Lieutenant General (Retd.) Arvind Mahajan in presence of School Principal Anjali Gupta, Vice Principal Dr Satya Bhushan Raina, staff and students here today.
To pay tribute to their father, car parking was funded and developed by Lieutenant General Arvind Mahajan and his siblings Dr Kamla Arora, Bikram, Vinod, Anil and Sunil Mahajan and donated to the school.
Lieutenant General Arvind Mahajan encouraged students to study well and stay committed to their nation. He also delivered a lecture on his experience in the army, his and his Army Unit’s role in Kargil war, displayed several slides about Indian army and their valour to encourage students and finally motivated the NCC cadets and other school students. He also recalled school alumni.
He said his father Late Munshi Ram Mahajan belonged to Agra Chak village of R S Pura and embarked upon his educational journey from this prestigious institution set up by erstwhile Maharaja Shri Ranbir Singh in 19th century and rose to become Administration Officer in Military Engineering Services (MES). Since his father used to narrate tales of Jammu and especially school, the family decided to pay back the school and develop it as per the needs of the institution.
Principal, SRML School, Anjali Gupta appreciated the whole Mahajan family for their contribution in the development of the school. Earlier Dr Satya Bhushan Raina in his speech welcomed the guests and highlighted the school achievements including that of academics, sports and NCC.
