Cardamom futures decline 1.66 pc on profit-booking

NEW DELHI, Dec 19: Cardamom prices declined by 1.66 per cent to Rs 1,046 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.
Adequate stock position following increased arrivals from producing region in the physical market also kept pressure on the commodity.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February month fell by Rs 17.70, or 1.66 per cent to Rs 1046 per kg in business turnover of 563 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January contract lost Rs 13.10, or 1.29 per cent to Rs 1005.10 per kg in 2,214 lots.
Market analysts said, besides profit-taking by speculators at existing higher levels, sluggish demand in spot market also influenced cardamom prices at futures market. (PTI)
