Cardamom futures down 1.55 pc on profit-booking

NEW DELHI, Apr 18: Cardamom prices fell by Rs 20.50 to Rs 1,303 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at existing levels, driven by weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand.
Ample stocks following increased arrivals from producing regions further fuelled the downtrend in cardamom futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June fell by Rs 20.50, or 1.55 per cent, to Rs 1,303 per kg in business turnover of 202 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in May contract declined by Rs 19, or 1.54 per cent, to Rs 1,217.50 per kg in 1,124 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, driven by weak trend at spot market on sluggish demand mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures market here. (PTI)
