Cardamom futures edge lower on weak demand

NEW DELHI, May 14: Cardamom prices drifted down by 1.29 per cent to Rs 955 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels amid easing demand at the spot market.
Besides, sufficient stocks on higher arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions too weighed on the prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery this month contract declined by Rs 12.50, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 955 per kg, in a business turnover of 3 lots.
The spice for delivery in june month contract was trading down by Rs 4.70, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 905 per kg, with a trading volume of 2 lots.
Traders said offloading of positions by participants amid sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, mainly led to the decline in cardamom prices at the futures trade. (PTI)
