Cardamom prices fall on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Nov 28:  In limited deals, prices of cardamom fell by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today due to easing demand from retailers and stockists at prevailing higher levels amid adequate stocks.
Increased arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on cardamom small prices.
Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin bold and extra bold declined by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 595-720, Rs 575-585, Rs 595-605 and Rs 675-685 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down cardamom prices.
Following are today’s quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 750-920, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,470-1,480 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,580-1,900.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 595-720, cardamom (colour robin) 575-585, cardamom bold 595-605, cardamom extra (bold) 675-685 and cloves 580-700. (PTI)
