Career counselling webinar held in SPMR College of Commerce

JAMMU, June 30: A webinar on “Career Opportunities in Management” for the final year students of the college, was organized through Google Meet by the Career Counseling Cell in collaboration with IQAC, Govt SPMR College of Commerce, a constituent college of Cluster University, Jammu.
Prof Sameer Gupta, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu, who was chief guest on the occasion, emphasized that exploration of career is utmost important and informed the students about the paradigm shift of the management courses in the modern era.
He highlighted the importance of undertaking management as a profession, since whether the students become entrepreneur, head of the company or Govt organization, management gives them a platform for success. He further discussed about the Centralized Admissions 2020 to the MBA programme of the University of Jammu.
Prof Ranjeet Singh Jamwal, Principal, Govt SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, in his address, insisted that the college is committed towards shaping the future of its students. He stressed that there are vast career options available today for the students to explore and all they need is good career guidance for the same. He also said that a platform like this, especially during COVID-19 pandemic, will not only help the students but also the parents to guide their children better while choosing career in management and other related fields.
Prof Bharti Slathia, Convener, Career Counseling Cell, said that proper direction to college students will help them in exploring the emerging career avenues along with available choices of education in future.
A large number of students from various streams; BBA, B Com, B Com Hon’s, Integrated M Com, BCA and Integrated History attended the session. The students asked questions at the end of the webinar and also requested to organize such informative sessions at regular intervals so that they can have more information regarding career opportunities in the management field. The webinar was also attended by the college faculty. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Sakshi Sharma.
