Case registered against contractor for assault

SRINAGAR, July 10: Police today registered a case against a private contractor for assaulting Government staff during inspection of a macadam plant in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The Quality Control Staff of Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department which include two Junior Engineers, Obaid Qadri and Zahid Farooq, and Works Supervisor, Abdul Rashid Bhat, were inspecting the macadam plant site at Tengan in the district when Sameer Paul of Paul Brothers and Sons allegedly assaulted them with a steel road and also abused them leaving Qadir injured.
Qadri sustained injuries in his hands. The Quality Control Staff told him to carry out work as per required specifications to which contractor got violent.
Following the incident, Qadri filed a complaint against Sameer Paul in police station Nowgam and subsequently police registered a case under FIR number 81/2015 under Sections 341 and 332. A police officer confirmed the registration of case but added that the accused has not been arrested.
Executive Engineer, Chadoora, Hashim Din told Excelsior that there was “some misunderstanding” between the Qadri and Sameer. “The issue has been sorted out now,” he said.
