KATRA, July 19: As the Casual employees of Katra Municipal Committee continued their protest for inclusion of their names for biometric attendance and disposal of pending salaries, some agitators attempted self immolation.
The protestors assembled at Fawarra Chowk and took out a protest march before staging a dharna outside tehsil office Katra. The protestors also blocked the main Banganga road for more than an hour.

The protest and dharna caused trouble to the Vaishno Devi pilgrims who had to march on foot to reach Darshini Deodi in view of disruption of vehicular movement.
During the protest demonstration, some agitating employees also tried to attempt self immolation but their bid was foiled due to timely intervention by the Police officials.
Later, SDM Katra also reached the spot and assured to take up their issue with the Director Local Bodies.
