Srinagar, Feb 14: Seasonal Casual Labourers of the Sericulture department today staged a protest seeking regularization of their services including the release of their pending wages.
Scores of such workers appeared in the Press Enclave and were heard raising slogans in favour of their demands while urging the administration to take note of the plight of the workers in the department.
“Our demands are not new, we are raising the old demands that include implementation of the regularization policy as well as the release of the pending wages,” the protestors said.

The protestors said that PM Modi has promised that the issues of the youth will be resolved once for all, “but on the ground, the situation is quite different as we continue to suffer despite years of service in the department,” the protestors said.
They said that due to the dillydallying tactics of the Government as well the concerned department, they have been forced to come out on the streets to raise their voice in favour of their demands.
The higher-ups of the UT Administration are set to meet on February 15 and we urge them to pay heed to the demands of the Seasonal Casual Labourers of the Sericulture department so that their issues are resolved once for all.
