JAMMU, Nov 17: Casual labours, need base workers and lower grade employees held protest demonstration and dharna at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
The workers and employees under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front  led by Mohd Gafoor Dar assembled  near Press  Club here in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were carrying banners and placards depicting their demands. They also shouted slogans in support of their demands.
Mr Dar alleged that State Government has failed to frame a definite policy for the daily rated, need base, casual and  contractual workers and regularize them. The Government despite commitment also failed to remove pay anomalies of clerical cadre. He demanded release of two DA installments in favour of employees and pensioners and enhancement of Medical allowance.
The Front leader also urged upon various political parties contesting elections to clear their stand regarding the regularization policy of casual labour, need base and contractual employees engaged after 1994. He appealed the rank and file  of the Trade Union Front to support progressive  and pro-employees party candidates who will promise to put these demands in the party manifesto.
Prominent among others who addressed gathering included Randhir Kumar, Gulam Mohd, Barkat Ali, Vikram Jeet Singh, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Saleem Wani, Piran Ditta and Raj Singh.
