JAMMU, Dec 17: A meeting of Range DIGs and District SPs of Jammu Zone was held in Zonal Police Headquarters today where various issues related to infrastructure, canteen facilities, crime position and law and order situation of the Jammu region were discussed.
The meeting was held in three different sessions. The first session of the meeting was dedicated to functioning of canteens which was chaired by Additional DGP Armed SM Sahai and 2nd session of the meeting was chaired by Additional DGP Headquarters Dr SP Vaid in which issues relating to infrastructure and modernization plan were discussed. The concluding session of the meeting was chaired by DGP Ashok Prasad.
Sahai informed the officers that two master canteens would be set up, one each in Jammu and Srinagar where from products would be supplied to subsidiary canteens being run in battalions and districts. The products would be directly purchased from the manufacturers.
Dr SP Vaid asked the officers to identify other urgent works for upgradation of existing buildings/blocks so that these works are taken up under modernization plan in the next financial year.
IGP Jammu Zone Rajesh Kumar reviewed the crime position and over-all functioning of each district with Range DIGs and District SPs.
In the concluding session, DGP Ashok Prasad asked the officers to make every effort to maintain good work that has been done in finishing the militancy from the region. He underlined the need for effective supervision at senior levels to bring quality improvement in the over-all functioning of police especially in investigation of cases, maintenance of records and building infrastructure besides garnering public support in maintenance of law and order.
He expressed his concern over the increasing road accidents and said that the casualties in road accidents are much higher than in militancy. Therefore, necessary steps need to be taken to have a complete check over the visible traffic violations.
