CB arrests fraudsters for duping crores of rupees

JAMMU, June 11: Crime Branch has arrested fraudsters for duping crores of rupees from the inhabitants of Mendhar and its surrounding areas on the pretext of providing different products with huge interest.
On May 16, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Mendhar alleging there in that accused Tariq Mehmood son of Mohd Aziz of village Chhugan, Tehsil Mendhar, Murtaza Ahmed son of Mohd Bashir of Chak Banok, Mendhar, Imtiaz Ahmed son of Mohd Aziz of village Chhugan Mendhar and others duped crores of rupees from the inhabitants of Mendhar and its surrounding areas on the pretext of providing different products with huge interest.
On receipt of the said complaint, a case FIR number 70/2019, under section 420/RPC was registered at Police Station Mendhar. Investigation of the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu, by PHQ J&K Srinagar and accordingly a SIT comprising Inspr Mashkoor Giri, Inspr Urfan Wani, SI Hilal Azhar and ASI Mohd Sayeed, headed by Bushan Kumar Ganjoo, DySP Crime Branch, Jammu, was constituted. The team arrested main accused Tariq Mehmood, a Pharmacist posted at Health Sub Centre Bathoi, Mahore, District Reasi but , presently suspended by the authorities.
The accused disclosed that he alongwith his other co-accused opened a company under the name of Style of “Hablas-e-Commerce Pvt Ltd ” located at Mendhar, District Poonch and collected money from different individuals on the pretext of providing them various products with huge interest of principle amount etc. In this process he collected huge amounts from different individuals in crores.
During investigation it was also revealed that Shazia Kouser wife of accused Tariq Mehmood and Advocate Jaffar Iqbal son of Nizam Din of Gujjar Mohallah, upper Paloura Jammu, were also hand in gloves with accused Tariq Mehmood in the illegal business to extort money . Both the accused persons were arrested yesterday and taken into Police remand for interrogation.
On disclosure of accused Shazia Kouser, an amount of Rs 10.00 lakh has also has been recovered and seized which was kept under cantonment in the residential Qtr of Lecturer Mehmood Ahmed who is absconding . The arrest and recoveries were affected by Crime Branch Jammu under the supervision of Mushtaq Ahmed, SP Crime Branch Jammu.
