PATHANKOT, June 8: District and Sessions Court Pathankot, which is hearing gang-rape and murder case of an eight-year old girl of Kathua, today reprimanded Jammu and Kashmir Police for its failure to produce witnesses and sought explanation from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Branch.
When the case was taken up this afternoon, District and Sessions Judge was shocked to know that the Crime Branch of J&K Police, which has conducted investigation into gang-rape and murder case of eight-year old girl, has failed to produce any of the witnesses.

Though the Crime Branch had given a list of 17 witnesses yet it failed to produce even one of them before the court thereby wasted the time of the court as well as lawyers of accused and the victim, who travelled all the way from Jammu to Pathankot to participate in the court proceedings.
Taking serious note of the failure of the Crime Branch in this regard despite being aware of the directives of the Supreme Court about holding hearings in the case on day-to-day basis, the District and Sessions Judge sought explanation from SSP Crime Branch about non-production of any of the witnesses in the court.
The case has now been listed at 11 am on June 11 (Monday).
