JAMMU, Jan 31: The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of Crime Branch Jammu today conducted a series of coordinated raids across multiple districts in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting Pakistani nationals overstaying illegally in the region using forged Indian documents.
A Crime Branch official said that the raids, which took place at over 15 locations in the districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua, and Jammu, followed an investigation based on credible information about Pakistani nationals illegally overstaying in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said these individuals arrived in India in the late 70s and afterward on valid travel documents but didn’t return back and managed forged Indian documents such as Aadhar cards, ration cards, and domicile certificates to secure employment in Government departments.
Probing the case, the Crime Branch official said the agency registered a case FIR (No.16/2024) under the Foreigners Act, Passport Entry into India Act, and relevant sections of the RPC pertaining to fraud and forgery.
Accordingly, he said, the investigation was entrusted to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Crime Branch Headquarters, comprising experienced officers from various ranks.
Under the supervision of SSP SCW Jammu, the SIT began its probe by gathering crucial details about the individuals and their whereabouts, he said.
After obtaining search warrants, the Crime Branch official said, the team executed raids across more than 15 locations in the region today.
During the searches, authorities recovered various forged documents and other relevant materials from the premises of the suspects, which were seized in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses, he said.
Further investigation into the case is underway as authorities are working to gather further evidence to address the issue of illegal stay and fraudulent activities, the CB official added.
