JAMMU, Apr 21: The Crime Branch (CB) which is investigating the alleged kidnapping and murder of a minor girl in Rassana village of Kathua district, is in the process of submitting a supplementary chargesheet in the case, a spokesperson of Jammu and Kashmir Police said today.
However, the spokesperson did not mention the date when the supplementary charge sheet would be filed.
The Crime Branch submitted a chargesheet in the case against seven of the eight accused in the case at a court in Kathua on April 9, amid protest by local lawyers. The next day it filed a separate chargesheet against another accused, who was earlier said to be a juvenile.
“After completion of all legal formalities of investigation, a chargesheet was produced in the competent court of law and the investigating agency is in the process of submitting a supplementary chargesheet,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying in a statement here.
The body of the girl was recovered from a forest in the district on January 17, a week after she went missing while grazing horses in the forest area.
On January 23, the Government had handed over the case to the Crime Branch of the State police which formed a Special Investigation Team and arrested eight people including two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a head constable, who was charged with destruction of evidence.
Meanwhile, the CB has not as yet initiated any investigation on the Video tape alleging that there was a big nexus of some elements and crores of rupees were collected by some persons on the name of the minor girl.
Sources said that CB which is investigating the Rassana murder case has not initiated any investigation on Video regarding collection on money by certain elements in Rassana murder case nor has it registered the FIR in this regard.
It may be recalled after the video surfaced, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh had issued instructions to the concerned agencies to get the matter investigated thoroughly.
Sources said the surfacing of the Video has given rise to many apprehensions and hence the people are also demanding a thorough investigation in the same as well as the role of members of certain NGOs.
