CBI arrests an official of Food Supply Department for accepting bribe

RAJOURI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Junior Assistant working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, District – Rajouri (J&K) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.22500/- from the father of the complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against accused u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the allegations that the accused demanded bribe of Rs.22500/- (30% of commission amount) for crediting carriage & commission amount of Rs.75419/- in the account of complainant’s father (a ration dealer in Manjakote, Rajouri for supply of food items under PDS). After credit of the said amount, the accused was pressurizing the complainant & his father for payment of bribe.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs.22500/-. Searches were conducted at the residential & official premises of the accused in Rajouri (J&K).
The arrested accused is being produced today before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu.
