NEW DELHI, June 1: Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) R.K. Shukla today called on Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and greeted him for his second consecutive term as Minister In-Charge Personnel / DoPT (Department of Personnel & Training), which is the Nodal Ministry dealing with the CBI.
Shukla conveyed best wishes to Dr Jitendra Singh on his personal behalf as well as on behalf of the entire organization of CBI and reiterated the commitment to serve the nation with the highest standards of propriety and professionalism.
While acknowledging the greetings from the CBI chief, Dr Jitendra Singh reiterated the Modi Government’s commitment to enable the constitutional bodies, including the CBI, to function with absolute freedom and professional independence. He said, unlike several governments in the past, the BJP-led NDA Government accords highest respect and reverence to the constitutional agencies and does not interfere in the working of the constitutional bodies.
Commending the credibility and trust earned by the CBI over the years, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the evidence of this lies in the fact that whenever there is a critical case to be investigated, the common public demand is to hand it over to the CBI. He said, it is the responsibility of all of us, including the State Governments, to supplement the professional independence and discretion exercised by the CBI and its officials.
Shukla assured Dr Jitendra Singh that the CBI will continue to live up to the reputation of the high standards of functioning practised by it. He referred to a number of successful and landmark breakthroughs achieved by the CBI during the recent years and also discussed certain logistic issues with the Minister.
