CBI unearths JEE exam racket, arrests company directors

NEW DELHI, Sep 2: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday registered a case against a private company and three employees, including its directors on allegations of allegedly committing irregularities in the on-going JEE (Main) examination-2021 and searches were being conducted at around 19 locations in various states, including Delhi-NCR, Pune and Jamshedpur, CBI statement said.
The agency said it was alleged that the company and its directors were allegedly manipulating the online examination of JEE (Mains) and facilitating aspiring students to get admission in top NITs in consideration of huge amount by solving the question paper of the applicant through remote access from a chosen examination center in Haryana’s Sonepat.
It was also alleged that the accused used to obtain Class X and XII mark sheets, the user IDs, passwords, and post dated cheques of aspiring students in different parts of country as security and once admission was done, they used to collect heavy amount ranging from 12 to15 Lakh per candidate.
Searches were being conducted at 19 places including Delhi and NCR, Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore and Bangalore, which led to recovery of 25 Laptops, 7 PCs, around 30 post-dated cheques along with voluminous incriminating documents and devices including PDC’s mark sheet of different students.
