CC calls Jammu bandh on May 27

JAMMU, May 23: Coordination Committee, an amalgam of more than 70 social, religious and political organizations, has called for a day-long Jammu bandh on May 27 over the shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir valley.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the committee chaired by president of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Abhinav Sharma at High Court complex this morning.
The day-long bandh would coincide with the visit of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to the State.
“Bandh would be observed as a matter of protest and to convey the sentiments and resentment of people from Jammu province against the decision of shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir valley”, Advocate Abhinav Sharma said after the Coordination Committee meeting.
It was also unanimously decided to give 10-day ultimatum to the Central Government and the elected representatives from Jammu province for establishment of AIIMS at Jammu. The Coordination Committee called upon all the 26 elected representatives from Jammu province, who are in the Government, to make a public statement within a period of 10 days as to whether they are with the people from Jammu province over the issue.
In the meeting, it was also unanimously decided that the President of the JKHCBA shall be the chairman of the Coordination Committee and the chief official spokesperson, the other two spokesperson will be the President of Chamber of Commerce Rakesh Gupta and the General Secretary of JKHCBA, A P Singh.
In the Coordination Committee, few more members like Y V Sharma, former President Chamber of Commerce, K B Jandial (former IAS officer),  Vijay Gupta, President Kanak Mandi Traders Association, Raj Kumar Babbar, State President Swarn Kar Sangh, Ashu Gupta Chairman, Apsra Road Traders Association, Amrik Singh, President Tourism Federation of Jammu, Vijender Khajuria, Chairman J&K Panchayat Rural and Urban Council, Davinder Choudhary, President Taxi Union, Kulbhushan Anand City President of Swarn Kar Sangh were included.
Meanwhile, Jammu West Assembly Movement led by Sunil Dimple has extended full support to the Bar Association Jammu on bandh.
