JAMMU, Aug 19: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has deferred Jammu bandh call on August 20.
JCCI president, Rakesh Gupta claimed that in view of the communications received from some members of civil society in Kashmir, seeking reasonable time to convince the stake holders for joining intra-regional dialogue, the Jammu Chamber has deferred the bandh call for Saturday.
“Chamber feels that reasonable time should be given to the nationalist forces in Kashmir who are trying to urge and impress upon the masses there for an early dialogue among members of Civil Society from Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu and hence, the call for Jammu bandh for August 20 is here by deferred,” Gupta added.
The JCCI further demanded that in view of situation in Valley, Darbar move office should be allowed to function from Civil Secretariat Jammu as the people from all the three regions are suffering badly. It said the Jammu ministers should be allowed to function in camp offices here. Chamber also condemned the beating up of truck and oil tanker drivers hailing from Jammu by miscreants in Kashmir and the attacks on pilgrims.
