JAMMU, Oct 22: A delegation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) led by its president, Y V Sharma called on Justice (retd) R C Gandhi the one man Judicial Commission holding probe into Kishtwar violence.
The delegation apprised him of the plight of the members of the business community in Kishtwar whose over 100 business establishments were set ablaze and some precious lives were also lost in the violence.
While interacting with Justice Gandhi, Y V Sharma president CCI said that after receiving phone calls from Kishtwar traders, Chamber of Commerce and Industry acted swiftly and held meetings with the Government and demanded that the victims of Kishtwar violence be provided full compensation in a time bound manner based on the findings of an Assessment Committee for the actual losses suffered.
He said the Government while acceding the Chamber’s demand assured that the actual losses of the sufferers will be assessed and same will be compensated in a time bound manner.
Mr Sharma informed Justice Gandhi that the delegation of the traders from Kishtwar who have suffered losses in the violence also called on the office bearers of the CCI and alleged that in spite of a lapse of over two months nothing concrete has taken place in this regard and the people are suffering badly on this account.
Exuding high hopes in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to unravel the entire mystery, book the perpetrators of this heinous crime and expose the people responsible for the negligence of the duty, the Chamber also expressed the hope that the Commission will expose the sinister design responsible for the act and the causes of delay for deployment of the Army on the fateful day.
The delegation was also hopeful that Commission will suggest a suitable mechanism that should be put in place to ensure that such deliberate man made tragedies do not take place again.
The objective, impartial and valuable suggestions of the Commission will go a long way in the welfare of the people of the State, the delegation added.
The other members of the delegation included Sham Lal Langer, senior vice president CCI, Arun Gupta its secretary, and Deepak Aggarwal, secretary. Besides, Rattan Lal Mahajan and Ram Langer president and general secretary of Traders Federation Warehouse and J S Bedi also accompanied the delegation.
