JAMMU, July 24: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu (CCIJ) delegation led by its president Rakesh Gupta called on the Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu in Srinagar to discuss issues relating to Vat and GST.
During the meeting the Jammu Chamber raised the issues pertaining to online payment of VAT / GST, online filing of VAT returns on turnover of Rs 20 lakhs and above and the extension of date for making the VAT/GST payments and filing of returns for the first quarter of 2016.
It was conveyed to the Finance Minister that because of the present turmoil in the Valley, the business people both in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will not be in a position to deposit the VAT / GST taxes on due date which is July 31, 2016.
The Finance Minister agreed that the demands put forth were genuine and he assured that the necessary SRO’s will be issued by tomorrow and all the three demands made shall be addressed.
The Chamber president was accompanied by Sham Lal Langer, senior vice president, Rahul Gupta- secretary and Ashu Gupta- treasurer.
