CCI Jammu organizes interactive session with JDA VC, JMC Commissioner

JAMMU, Oct 11: Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) Jammu today organized an interactive session with Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Kuldip Lal Khajuria and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Commissioner (JMC), Kiran Wattal, who were also accompanied by Joint Commissioner, JMC, Kapil Sharma, Health Officer JMC, Dr Vinod Sharma and Town Planner, JDA, Anil Raina.
While welcoming the dignitaries, president CCI, YV Sharma highlighted various issues regarding development of Jammu city.
He said as about one and a half million pilgrims and tourists visit round the year for performing Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage besides Amarnath yatra during the summer months. In this backdrop, the JDA and JMC have a major role to play as far as infrastructural development and logistic support is concerned.
“With increasing population the number of colonies is increasing while the infrastructural facilities to cater to the civic needs remain almost the same. These need to be upgraded to meet the requirements”, he added.
The CCI president also asserted for starting work on parking projects proposed by the Government in Old City several years ago, which is nowhere in sight till today.
He also emphasized for proper street lighting for smooth movement of the residents as also to thwart the attempts of anti-social elements who take refuge of darkness and indulge in petty crimes like chain snatching, eve teasing etc.
Sharma also pointed out that while reviving the master plan upto 2031, steps should be taken to regularize the existing commercial activities in the colonies like Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Channi, Sainik Colony etc as there is not enough space for these activities.
Arun Gupta, secretary general CCI requested JMC Commissioner to give top priority to sewerage and drainage works, restoration of dismantled roads, provision of parking places, maintenance of drains and parks, provision of water, power and sanitation.
Wattal assured CCI that all possible steps would be taken to address the points raised by him.
Vice Chairman JDA also assured that the grievances regarding JDA will be redressed in shortest possible time and also the work on the multiple parking complex will be started very soon.
