CCI Jammu president meets NIT Director

JAMMU, May 6: The president Chamber of Commerce & Industry,  Rakesh Gupta paid a visit to NIT Srinagar campus and called upon Rajat Gupta, the Director of NIT.
The Chamber president discussed the recent unpleasant happenings that took place inside NIT Campus. All the aspects were thoroughly discussed and Chamber feels that after initial flaws in handling situation when it started, the administration has done quite a bit to satisfy the concern of the students and also giving them a sense of security.
The Chamber president brought to the notice of the Director NIT Srinagar that a student’s council should be formed as soon as possible so that in future if any problem arises then the council can immediately take up the issue with the administration. The Director also apprised the Chamber president that students have reposed full faith in the faculty of NIT Srinagar and not opted for assessments by externals.
CCI president brought also to the notice of the Director NIT that the hostel accommodation was not sufficient to house the strength of the students, hence new hostel blocks should be constructed to make the stay of the students in hostel more comfortable. The Director in this context said that they have already applied for the permission for renovation and additional constructions.
It may not be out of place to mention that students of NIT and their parents had made frantic calls to Chamber president expressing security concerns. Due to the exams of the students Gupta could not meet them during the visit.
