CCI organises interactive meet with CT officers

JAMMU, May 31: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu organized an interactive meet with the Commissioner Commercial Taxes K H Rizvi and his team of officers at Chamber Bhawan here today.
Accompanied by Additional Commissioner (CT) P I Khateeb, Dy Commissioner (Appeals) P K Bhat, Dy Commissioner (Audit) Anu Malhotra, Dy Commissioner ( Vigilance and Inspection) Sohail Noor, Dy Commissioner (Recovery) Vivek Sharma, Dy Commissioner ( Lakhanpur) Ashish Gupta and Dy Commissioner (Stamps), Rajesh Sharma, Mr Rizvi listened to the problems of the members of the CCI Jammu and other traders present during the interactive session and assured full cooperation.
President of the Chamber, Y V Sharma while speaking on the occasion accorded welcome to the CT officers and highlighted various issues. He said that members of the business community have pleaded for some amnesty scheme before entering into the new regime of GST. He said there is provision of penalty or payment of interest on violation of the VAT Act with regard to late payment of tax amount. He also raised the issue of suspension of RC.
Mr Sharma said time should be fixed for these violations and minimum time should be fixed as six months and if the appeal is pending with the appellate authority for any reason, RC should not be suspended. He suggested that more phone lines at Lakhanpur be installed.
Chamber opined that those traders who are paying VAT more than some fixed amount should be visited by the senior officers of the department to enquire about the problems being faced by them. It said Green channel be practically made functional as promised by Government for smooth flow of trade and a committee be constituted for the reddressal of the grievances of the tax payers as assured in Budget speech by the Finance Minister.
