CCI projects traders’ issues post GST implementation

JAMMU, July 8: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) members today projected the problems being faced by the traders and  industrialists post GST implementation in the J&K State.
The office bearers of  JCCI  during meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Rakesh Gupta, president, discussed  the problems being faced by  the traders and industrialists after the implementation of  Goods and Services Tax in the  State.  Serious deliberations were held  by members and an urgent communication was flashed to the State Finance Minister   Dr Haseeb  Drabu.
In the letter,  the Jammu Chamber  pleaded that  for adopting GST regime and implementing the same in the State of J&K, it is sincerely advised that  Finance Department should play a role of an advisor rather than an enforcement agency for smooth implementation of GST in the State.  It was also suggested that instructions should be passed on to the concerned officers of Commercial Taxes Department not  to visit business markets or the industry with the enforcement mission and harass them .
They said  many clarifications need to be sought regarding billing pattern, Industrial incentives, toll tax at Lakhanpur and so on.  Until that time, it is request ed to the Department to cooperate with the businessmen. Chamber  assured  full cooperation for the smooth implementation of GST in the State.
The Jammu Chamber further cautioned  the mischievous elements whether they are in trade, industry or political field to desist from such activities. The Chamber also warned  such associations which do not follow the election process and are holding positions against their constitution. The Chamber of Commerce & Industries assures the trade and industry that Chamber is in constant touch with the Government and very shortly next week meetings shall be held between the Chamber and the Government functionaries regarding incentives / remission for Industries and Toll tax being levied at Lakhanpur.
Chamber also assures trade and industry that necessary hurdles whether  it is Toll tax or the illegal entry fee being charged by the Traffic police from Lakhanpur to Ladakh  shall be opposed tooth and nail from  the vehicles whether Commercial or Tourists.
JCCI office bearers Rajesh Gupta, Rajeev Gupta, Gaurav Gupta and Ashu Gupta also attended the meeting.
