JAMMU, Feb 23: Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed the Railway Minister to create new Railway Division at Jammu and develop Jammu Railway Station as a model station besides its expansion.
These demands were made in a representation, sent to the Railway Minister by the Chamber during its meeting, held under the chairmanship of president Y V Sharma.
In the representation, the Chamber also demanded expediting the work on double lanning of Railway track between Jammu and Jallandhar, starting up of direct trains from Jammu to various destinations, setting up of Rail Coach Factory and Rail Engine Workshop here, provision of 2nd entrance to the Railway Station, separate Rail Line from Jammu to Katra, new rail line from Udhampur to Pul Doda, construction of Foot over Bridge (FOB) from platform No 3 to circulation area, introduction of trolley system on the pattern of Airport, setting up of Rail Bridge Factory and Institute for Tunnel and Bridge Engineering at Jammu as announced in the Budget Speech of 2011.
The Chamber meeting was attended by Sham Lal Langer, Anil Gupta, Arun Gupta, Deepak Aggarwal and Bharat Bhushan Gupta.
