CCI urges FM to extend last date for filing VAT returns

JAMMU, Aug 24: In view of the prevailing law and order situation in Kashmir valley, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed the State Finance Minister to extend the last date for filing of VAT returns and depositing of VAT tax for the first quarter of 2016-17.
“Because of the prevailing law and order situation on ground in Kashmir valley, the business people throughout the State have been directly or indirectly affected and still there is no sigh of relief. Members of the business community are not in a position to deposit the VAT amount or file VAT returns and hence last date for the same should be extended atleast by two months,” said Rakesh Gupta, president of CCI, in an appeal Finance Minister Haseeb A Drabu.
