CCIM discusses issues of ISM doctors

JAMMU, Mar 14: A meeting of elected Members of Central Council of Indian Medicine was held at New Delhi wherein various problems faced by the ISM practitioners in India were discussed.
It was announced in the meeting that a list of 68 modern medicines is likely to be approved by the AYUSH Department. Besides that an anti quacking Act and Cell is to be constituted in each State to check the fraudulent quack doctors who are misusing the name of Ayurveda. It was also stated in the meeting that medical certificates issued by ISM doctors are valid in the Court of Law.
Speaking in the meeting Dr R L Sharma, CCIM Member from Jammu & Kashmir State said that the Graduate and Post Graduate AYUSH Doctors are not allowed to practice modern system in the J&K State as per the directions of the J&K Government in-spite of the fact that J&K High Court has maintained status quo in writ petition filed by the ISM doctors.
Dr Sharma further said that a review petition is being filed by the AYUSH doctors in the Supreme Court of India to allow the emergency and life saving drugs by the AYUSH doctors.
