CCIU recovers over Rs 11 lakh in online scam complaints

SAMBA, Oct 25: In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of Samba Police successfully refunded and secured a total of Rs 11,07,654 in response to seven separate online cyber complaints received through the National Cyber Crime Portal.
The complaints lodged by citizens who had fallen victim to various online scams and fraudulent schemes, prompted an extensive investigation by the Samba Police cyber team under the leadership of a Deputy Superintendent of Police and led by an Inspector. Through technical expertise and persistent effort, the CCIU managed to recover Rs 2,00,216 and secure an additional Rs 9,07,438 by freezing the defrauded funds across multiple cases.
The Samba Police have reminded the public to exercise caution when sharing sensitive information, both online and offline and to avoid clicking on unfamiliar or suspicious links. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious cyber activities immediately to the National Cybercrime Helpline (1930) and to submit complaints through the national cybercrime portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in. Additionally, cases involving lost or stolen mobile phones can be filed at www.ceir.gov.in.
Further investigation is ongoing to bring the fraudsters to justice.
