CCTV functioning to be reviewed: SSP

JAMMU, Apr 9: The functioning of Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera in the Jammu district will be reviewed in the shortest possible time.
This was stated by Dr Sunil Gupta, SSP Jammu, while interacting with media persons at Pacca Danga police station this evening.
He stated that the proposal of reviewing the functioning of CCTV cameras has been completed and will be taken up with the higher authorities at the earliest.
Dr Gupta further stated that under Operation Anti Vehicle Theft and Recoveries (AVTAR), emphasis was laid on the early recovery of stolen vehicles and further handing over the same to the rightful owners.
Under this operation, City Police North comprising of Sub Division City North and City West, Jammu recovered 9 vehicles, which were stolen recently, SSP added.
He informed that City North Police seized 6 two wheelers vehicles under section 550 CrPC and after verification of the owners of the said vehicles, they were handed over to the rightful owners. Those vehicles which were seized under section 550 CrPC were reported as missing by their owners but they were recovered within no time before lodging of FIRs, he maintained.
In addition 5 vehicles have been seized under Section 550 CrPC by City North Police but the owners of which have still not been traced, SSP said, adding that search of the owners is going on continuously.
As and when the owners of these seized vehicles are traced and identified in future then those vehicles will be handed over to them after completion of legal formalities, Dr Gupta maintained.
