CDPO, Tourism official attacked

RAJOURI, June 26: A Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the Social  Welfare Department  and his brother, an employee of Tourism Department were seriously injured after they were  attacked by some bike riders on Rajouri- Thanamandi road today.
A police spokesman said that incident took place when Tariq Riaz, a Senior Assistant  in the Tourism Department was returning in his car to Rajouri.  Four youth riding on a bikes intercepted him near Fatehpur and started beating after dragging him out of the vehicle. His brother,  Mehmood Riaz,  a KAS officer and presently posted as CDPO Thana Mandi who was also returning to Rajouri in his official vehicle saw his brother being beaten up and came to his rescue and asked the attackers about the matter. He too, was attacked with a rod on his head and he fell down. By the time, some more people arrived there and the four youth escaped on their bikes towards Thana Mandi.
Both the Government officials were shifted to district hospital Rajouri. The police registered a case FIR No. 324/ 2013 U/S 307, 341, 147 RPC against the accused persons and started investigation.  The police was conducting raids to nab them.  Four of them were identified as Amjad Mirza, son of Haji Mohd Sharif, Danish Raja, son of Khadim Hussain Mirza, Shakoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Latief and Rashid, son of Khadim Hussain, resident of San Samad in Thanna Mandi.
