SRINAGAR, July 14:  The Irrigation and Flood Control Department has written to the State Government for action against an Executive Engineer of the department posted at Ganderbal after it was established that the Engineer has tampered with his date of birth.
The fraud has been detected by the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education and the report has been sent to Irrigation and Flood Control Department for follow-up action.
Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Muzaffar Ahmad Lankar told Excelsior that he has written to Commissioner Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, B D Sharma to take action against Aijaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer, Ganderbal for tampering with his date of birth.
“I don’t have the jurisdiction to take action against the Executive Engineer and the Government alone can do so. I have written to Commissioner Secretary to take action against the Executive Engineer as it has been established that he tampered with his date of birth, ” said Lankar.
He said that the information about the tampering of date of birth came from State Board of School Education authorities. He said that there is a difference of three years between the actual date of birth and tampered date of birth.
“The Executive Engineer was supposed to retire in 2016 since he was claiming to have been born in 1958. However, on scrutiny of the documents it was established by the State Board of School Education that the actual date of birth is 1955 and not 1958. Going by his actual date of birth he is due to retire in 2013 and not in 2016,” said Lankar.
“Somebody had approached the Board of School Education authorities that the Executive Engineer is misleading the department that he has still four years of service. The complainant had in the complaint said that the engineer is retiring in 2013 and the issue needs to be probed,” sources said.
