JAMMU, Feb 5: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that the ceasefire violations and militant attacks in present PDP-BJP regime have broken all previous records.
While addressing public gatherings in Gangyal and Digiana area of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Bhalla took PDP-BJP Government head on for failing in responding to the acute sufferings of residents along International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) in the wake of shelling from across the border, saying they were virtually left in lurch.
“The Government has betrayed these hapless people, who the BJP exploited ruthlessly during 2014 elections to Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly by making promises that turned out to be just hoax. Bhalla said with Modi becoming the Prime Minister, the ceasefire violations from across the border have increased manifold and militant attacks have also outnumbered.
He said, “Modi had won 80 per cent of his election on the issue of ceasefire violations and hollow propagandas. Whenever we (UPA) wanted to hold talks with Pakistan, the BJP which was in the opposition then, used to ridicule and criticize us, saying talks cannot be held while terror continues.”“Now, as the terror incidents have increased manifold, the Central Government led by Modi is going two steps forward and four steps backward,” he said.
Bhalla expressed serious concern over the slow pace of development and delay being caused on completion of city’s important projects. He regretted the delay being caused on development projects and Smart City project of Jammu. He said there is no sign of development and it is restricted to papers only.
The former Minister also blamed the PDP-BJP coalition for pushing Jammu and Kashmir into developmental inertia with utility services in disarray as a result of which the people are suffering. “The mis-governance has taken toll on every sector and the people are suffering on account of basic minimum needs,” he said.
