CEC convenes review meet with CAZRI

LEH, Mar 27: Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Rigzin Spalbar today conducted first review meeting with the officials of Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI) at Council Secretariat here.
In the meeting, he briefed that in the year 2011, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) approached the Council with a proposal of CAZRI Jodhpur for setting up of a Regional Research Station (RRS) at Leh. Looking at the benefits of such research centers for the farmers in particular and Ladakh in general, CEC had then inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of the CAZRI RRS Leh on August 12, 2012. To know about the progress in this regard, CEC had desired to take a review of the work in progress on ground after the inauguration.
During the meeting, he stressed on the need to develop interest towards land based economy and instructed actual beneficiaries to have close coordination with all the concerned departments of the same field to yield optimum result.
Earlier, Principal Scientist Dr J C Tiwari, Coordinator CAZRI and Sr Scientist Dr M S Raghavanshi, Office Incharge explained in detail about the research and field works conducted till date and plans for the coming period through a power-point presentation.
Later, Dr Stobdan, Scientist DIHAR and others gave inputs on other possible prospects in Leh district.
Executive Councilor Health Dr Sonam Wangchuk, Executive Councilor Agriculture Sonam Dorjey, Executive Councilor Animal & Sheep Husbandry Gyurmet Dorjey, Executive Councilor Tourism Mohd Shafi Lasu, scientists and technical staff of CAZRI, scientists of DIHAR, and officials of Agriculture and Horticulture Department were also present.
