LEH, Aug 28: The Chairman/ Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal and Deputy Chairman Tsering Sandup inspected the functioning of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plant of Leh located behind Skampari Mountain.
The solar power run 30 tons per day (TPD) Solid Waste Management Plant of Leh started its process of collecting and treating solid wastes from yesterday. Yesterday, the plant received 6.50 tons of garbage from MC Leh. 100 Kwp Solar Power Plant installed by LREDA at the plant site is the main attraction of Leh Solid Management Plant which will provide clean energy to run this plant.
During site visit, Manish Pathak (Managing Director) and Paras Arora (CEO of 3R management Ltd) and other engineers of 3RM briefed CEC and Deputy Chairman about the entire process of waste management at the plant. The engineers of 3RM demonstrated the process of waste segregation unit, shredders, mixer, heater, curing, storage, recycle, landfill and packing of waste resources to the visiting team.
CEC Wangyal directed Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Leh A G Zargar to ensure supply of garbage in full capacity at the plant on daily basis and said that after assessing the daily garbage management capacity and efficacy of this new plant for next about 15 days, Council will decide its inauguration date.
Earlier, at Council Secretariat Leh, the engineers and staff of 3RM headed by Manish Pathak gave a detail power point presentation about the functioning and future roadmap of Leh Solid Waste Management Plant and said that their company’s aim is to make the Leh plant a model for Solid Waste Management in India.
The meeting was briefed that at present Glass Shredder, High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Shredder and Bailer machine components are installed at the plant site and are in running position while as Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) Shredder, Paper Shredder Pulp and Briquetting machines are yet be installed at the plant which is expected to be delivered in mid September 2020.
Meanwhile, CEC and Deputy Chairman inspected Black hole machine at Bomb-garh which is being set up there to burn up the garbage.
