LEH, Mar 6: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council of Leh, Gyal P Wangyal in presence of Executive Councillor for Agriculture (ECA), Phuntsog Stanizn today inaugurated fruits and vegetables processing training centre at Khaltsi during the three day tour of Shaam region.
SDM Khaltsi, Tsering Motup, Chief Horticulture Officer (Leh), Tsewang Phuntsog were also present on the occasion.
While addressing Wangyal congratulated the farmers of Shaam area for functional of the centre which will be an eye opener for fruit and vegetable producing farmers and unemployed youth of the area to move towards value addition of their produces, specially world famous apricot fruit.
Phuntsog Stanzin said that the facility was constructed at the estimated cost of Rs one crore aimed at to give a platform to farmers, entrepreneurs and unemployed youth of the area.
He further said that the centre has training hall with residential facility for expert trainers where farmers would get training, interact with expert trainers and scientists from different the agro fields.
While talking about upcoming Rs 250 crores ‘Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI)’ project in Leh and Milk Collection Centre at Khaltsi, EC Agriculture said that all agro based projects will be integrated with MODI in future.
Earlier, Chief Horticulture Officer briefed about the aim and objectives of the processing centre.
CEC visited many villages included Kanji, Photolalok, Lamayuru, Saspol and Likir of the region and gave patient hearing to the demands of public during the tour.
