LEH, Jan 1: The Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal today paid a visit of Education Department Leh and checked the samples of furniture, uniform, sports equipments, teaching learning materials etc proposed to be procured by Education Department Leh.
Joint Director Education Ladakh, Tashi Dolma apprised the CEC that education department is also planning to facilitate Government schools of Leh with quality furniture and other items through banks and other agencies under Corporate Social Responsibility scheme in coming months.
The CEC inspecting the samples of school items directed Joint Director Education to procure eco-friendly furniture and other equipments for schools and suggested to give traditional touch to the items using local resources, artisans and Women Self Help Groups so that Council’s vision of sustainable development could also merge and realize through big department like Education.
Later, CEC JTN chaired a brief meeting of Joint Director Education Ladakh, Incharge Chief Education Officer Leh, Abdul Qayum, AD Planning Education, Tsering Angdus and ZEO, Leh Tsering Paldan in Joint Director’s Office and discussed future plans and strategies, staff strength and limitations of the education department.
Later, CEC paid a surprise visit of DIET Leh where teachers were receiving training under Samagra Shiksha and elementary teachers training programme in various subjects.
The CEC inquired about the problems and challenges faced by teachers and assured them to consider their feedback seriously and to take appropriate actions to ensure better teaching and learning atmosphere in Government schools.
Incharge Principal DIET Leh Tsering Yangdol briefed CEC about the ongoing teachers training at DIET Leh.
