CEC Kargil discusses integration of Anganwadi Centres with Govt schools

KARGIL, Jan 11: The Chairman/ Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, presided over a meeting today to deliberate on the integration of Anganwadi Centers with Government schools.
Notable attendees included Executive Councillor for Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councillor for Education, Zakir Husain, Director Social Welfare, Director School Education, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Program Officer ICDS Kargil, CDPOs, ZEOs from different Zones, along with other concerned officers.
The discussions delved into the merger of Anganwadi Centers with Government schools, specifically addressing the need to prevent duplication of Mid-Day Meals provided by both Anganwadi Centers and the School Education Department.
Highlighting the alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), the Director of School Education conveyed that co-locating Anganwadi Centers and school buildings within the same compound is recommended.
CEC Dr Jaffer inquired about potential plans for constructing new Anganwadi Centers, suggesting that provisions for land compensation be included in the DPRs, given the often distant locations of state-owned land from inhabited areas.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of both departments in establishing a strong foundation for children in their early years, the CEC urged officials to actively fulfil their responsibilities.
He underscored that Anganwadi Centers and the School Education Department form the backbone of the Government’s efforts to uplift society, especially the underprivileged class.
