KARGIL, Aug 31: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today inaugurated a motorable bridge and approach road near the shrine of famous religious scholar and saint Syed Mir Hashim here at Karpokhar.
Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbass Razvi, Executive Councillor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Councillor Sankoo Aga Syed Ahmad Razvi, Councillor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, Councillor Barsoo Sheikh Ghulam Muhammad Ansari, SE PWD Ved Prakash, SDM Sankoo Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Executive Engineer Suru Valley Division Sankoo Sajjad Hussain Wazir, Executive Engineer PHE Kargil and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
The 45-metre-span motorable bridge and 550 metre approach road completed at a cost of Rs 3.66 crores under District Plan would benefit local population of around 200 souls and would also provide pilgrims and tourists better access to the holy shrine and other historical sites in the area.
Later, the CEC also laid the foundation stone of the improvement and up gradation of Brakoo Itchoo Road KM 1 to 9 under languishing project.
The project is being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 9.14 crores and is targeted to be completed by next year.
On the occasion, the locals of Karpokhar and Thasgam areas projected a number of issues and demands which included construction of link roads at Karpokhar and macdamization of the existing roads, provision of water supply facilities and bathrooms for pilgrims at Syed Mir Hashim’s shrine, park for local visitors and tourists and other related demands.
The locals of Thasgam also demanded sanctioning of a new motorable bridge for Thasgam and link road for Itchoo village.
The CEC gave a patient hearing to all demands and concerns raised by the locals and assured them all genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner.
