JAMMU, Dec 4: Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Leh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal called on the Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahamd Ganai here today.
The CEC was accompanied by Deputy Chairman LAHDC Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councilors Tsering Sandup, Mumtaz Hussain and Phunchok Stazin.
During the meeting, the CEC raised many issues including non-functioning of Milk Pasteurization Plant and issues related to Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the region.
The CEC also apprised the Advisor about filling up of vacant posts in various departments, creation of Bodhi teacher posts in the region and development of tourist infrastructure to attract more tourists.
The Advisor sought details regarding tourist arrivals in the region. It was informed that over three lakh tourists visited Leh this year and more adventure lovers, including foreigners are expected to visit the region this winter season.
The Advisor referred to the immense potential for adventure tourism in Ladakh and stressed on promoting the region as global adventure tourism destination.
He asked Secretary Tourism to step up efforts to promote Ladakh alongside Kashmir and Jammu as a safe tourist destination.
The CEC also apprised the Advisor about various issues related to education and social welfare sectors and the need for strengthening ICDS in the region.
The Advisor assured to take up all the issues raised by the CEC with the concerned state level departments for considering these on priority.
Jamyang Tsering Namgial and MLC Chering Dorjay also called on Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar.
CEC Leh apprised the Advisor about important issues pertaining to the development of Leh district.
With regard to the strengthening of health sector in the district, the delegation raised several important issues that need attention of the Government. The main issues that were projected included shortage of doctors, up-gradation of existing heath institutions, construction of separate building with residential facilities for students & teaching staff of AMT School that presently runs from old block of District Hospital, expediting of PMDP projects, requirement of Primary Health Centre under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and others.
Besides this, the delegation also requested for strengthening of Human Resource at district hospital, establishment of Hospitality & Protocol Department at Leh and placing the police personnel of Leh to their home district back who are serving in Kashmir division since long. They also called for posting police personnel’s to the newly raised IRP Battalion.
Discussion was also held on the project ‘Juniper Conservation and Propagation’ and its inclusion under Intensification of Forest Management Scheme.
The Advisor after having thorough discussion with CEC LAHDC Leh and other members assured them that all the issues raised would be looked into and appropriate action would be taken to address them.
