LEH, Mar 30: The Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson here today conducted a site visit to Igoo Phey to identify land for the development of a project under Swadesh Darshan 2.0.
The visit focused on assessing a 3 km stretch along the Igoo Phey canal, with a width of 120 ft, which has been transferred for the project.
Accompanying the CEC were Chief Executive Officer, Leh Development Authority; Chief Planning Officer; Deputy Director, Command Area, Leh; Assistant Director, Tourism; Tehsildar Leh; Executive Engineer, I&FC, Leh; Executive Engineer, PHE, Leh; Executive Engineer, Igoo Phey, Leh; Executive Engineer, Leh Development Authority; Girdawar and Patwari of Stok, Spituk and Chuchot villages; BRO Consultant, Himank; president Ladakh Transport Trade Alliance; vice president All Ladakh Guest House Association and president, All Ladakh Tour Operator Association.
During the visit, officials conducted a detailed evaluation of the site and discussed the scope of development under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme.
The initiative aims to enhance tourism infrastructure while preserving the region’s unique cultural and natural heritage.
The CEC emphasized the importance of sustainable and well-planned development to boost tourism and local livelihoods.
The project focuses on strengthening tourist infrastructure and creating new destinations, particularly for enhancing the air-landing view and showcasing the scenic beauty of Indus River.
