JAMMU, Jan 9: CEC, LAHDC Leh, Jamyang Tsering Namgial called upon Home Minister (HM) Rajnath Singh at his office in Parliament. He was accompanied by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office and Phuntsok Stanzin, Executive Councillor (Agri) from Leh.
In the meeting, the CEC took up the important and long pending demand including inclusion of Bhoti language in the eight schedule of Constitution. He apprised Home Minister about the significance of Bhoti language which is amongst the ancient Indian languages spoken and written throughout the Himalayan region.
He added that Bhoti is extensively used by people in day to day lives as a medium of informal and formal communication like for regional broadcast and telecast, besides print media etc. Namgial stressed upon the Home Minister for his personal intervention in fulfilling the demand of inclusion of Bhoti language in the eight schedule of Indian Constitution.
The CEC also strongly took up the demand for grant of Divisional Status to Ladakh region to achieve the developmental aspirations of the people in this remote border region. He also requested for a special relaxation for recruitment of Ladakhi youths in Central Forces and raised other important developmental issues.
Extending gratitude to the Home Minister for opening of new trekking routes and extension of existing routes for tourist movement in the region, Namgial requested the Minister for inclusion of other places for tourist visit in Ladakh in future.
In the evening, CEC also had a meeting with Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba at South Block and raised various developmental issues pertaining to LAHDC, Leh.
Meanwhile, the CEC also met with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and took up the same issues with him. He also met with Tarun Kapoor, Vice Chairman, DDA at Delhi and sought his personal intervention in sorting out the long pending case of LAHDC Leh’s land situated at Dwarka in New Delhi by waiving off the new premium and grant of building construction approval “NOC” so that an abode for helpless souls from Ladakh region can be provided at National Capital.
Vice Chairman, DDA assured CEC that he will assign the Dwarka land case to officer personally who will examine and case as soon as possible.
