LEH, Apr 19: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, visited several villages in Khaltsi Sub-Division, including Tar-Thang, Lamayuru, Wanla, Ursi, and Hinju, to review preparations for the upcoming visit of the 37th Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpochey.
The spiritual leader will be visiting Ladakh for the five-day Drikung Snake Year Teachings, scheduled from May 27 to 31 at Lamayuru Photang.
The CEC was accompanied by Councillors Lobzang Sherab, Dr Morup Dorjey, and Konchok Tsepal.
At Tar-Thang, he inspected ongoing work and the site of the new Community Hall, urging officials to speed up arrangements.
In Lamayuru, the CEC visited the Photang Rawa site and met monks and residents. They highlighted issues like water supply, mobile connectivity, sanitation and crowd management.
They also stressed the need for temporary accommodation due to the expected rush of devotees and tourists.
The CEC assured full support and directed departments to work together to ensure smooth arrangements.
He emphasised improving roads, water, sanitation, and communication infrastructure ahead of the event.
At Wanla, he visited the Government High School, interacted with teachers, and reviewed infrastructure.
He also visited the local monastery and inspected ongoing development work.
In Ursi, the CEC inspected the under-construction Vipassana Meditation Centre and interacted with villagers who expressed gratitude for the ongoing support.
At Hinju village, residents appreciated the developmental efforts and thanked the CEC for visiting.
They raised local concerns related to infrastructure and public services. The CEC later visited Hinju Gonpa to review preparations for the Rinpochey’s visit.
Officials from various departments, including PWD, PHE, R&B, I&FC, BSNL and PDD, accompanied the CEC.
