Discusses telemedicine, ICU facilities for Leh

Hyderabad, July 6: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson (the Executive Councillor for Health) visited Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad today. There he met with Apollo Hospitals Group’s Joint Managing Director, Dr. Sangita Reddy, and Vikram Thaploo, Chief Executive Officer, Apollo Tele-Health Services (ATHS).
During their meeting, the officials discussed the possibility of bringing innovative telemedicine-based models to Leh. Gyalson accompanied by BJP UT President Ladakh, Phunchok Stanzin also interacted with the Apollo team and was given a demonstration of the functionalities of Apollo’s unique Telemedicine-based ICU and Emergency modules. They further paid a visit to the ATHS Medical Response Center and witnessed the working of the Tele-ICU command center, housed inside Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
A meeting was also conducted among the officials, and was attended virtually by Dy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Chief Planning Officer Leh, Tsewang Gyaltsan; Chief Medical Officer Leh, Dr. Nurzin Angmo; District Tuberculosis Officer Leh, Dr. Iqbal Ahmed; Medical Superintendent SNM Hospital Leh, and In-charge Tele-Medicine, SNM Hospital Leh, Dr. Spalchen Gonbo.
After experiencing Apollo’s technology-driven telemedicine systems during the tour, CEC Gyalson stated “Leh needs leveraging the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to cater to the needs of a growing population and tourists who visit us every year. With limited health facilities, we are currently doing a commendable job, but such an intervention will help us go a long way towards making the whole public health system sustainable.”
