LEH, Aug 22: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson; Executive Councillor for RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee and CEO LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Suse visited villages in Korzok constituency, Changthang and listened public problems.
Major issues highlighted by the villagers included restrictions on nomadic grazing pasture lands at border areas, completion of road connectivity with blacktopping, telecommunication connectivity with high-speed internet, drinking water issues, land allotment issues, up-gradation of the existing Govt schools and health centres with adequate staff in nomadic areas, up-gradation of VSATs, construction of irrigation canals etc.
CEC Gyalson directed concerned Executive Engineers of various departments to timely execute all the planned developmental works in entire belt of Korzok.
On their visit to Tsomo-Riri and Tsokar Lake, the officials instructed the villagers to cooperate district administration in maintaining sanctity of wetlands and preserve the natural ecology of the sites.
They also ensured to develop the sites to promote quality tourism in adjacent areas of Tsomoriri and Tsokar lakes.
The CEC assured to upgrade the existing VSATs in all the villages to provide better internet connectivity. He also ensured to provide reliable tele-connectivity networks in far off regions on priority.
Taking note of the issues of wildlife restrictions on developmental activities, EC Tashi informed the people that senior-level meetings are in progress to discuss rationalisation and de-notification of wildlife sanctuaries in border regions of Ladakh.
Reacting to drinking water issues, CEC, EC and DC Leh informed villagers that every household would get a water connection under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Councillor Korzok Constituency, BDC Chairperson Rupsho, DSE PWD Circle Leh, village representatives led by Sarpanches, Panches and Nambardars of Korzok accompanied CEC, EC RDD and DC Leh during their visit.
