LEH, Dec 17: In view of approaching Ladakhi Losar (new year) celebration, the Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal held a meeting with all stakeholders including Ladakh Buddhist Association, Merchant Association and HoDs, at Council Secretariat today.
Chairing the meeting, Wangyal sought detail information regarding power supply, stocking and availability of essential commodities, availability of Juniper (Shukpa), maintenance of law and order, drinking water facilities etc.
Regarding smooth and uninterrupted power supply during Losar celebration, CEC Wangyal directed Chief Engineer, NHPC, Xen PDD and Engineers of PGCIL to ensure uninterrupted power supply especially during important days of Losar celebration like Galdan Namchot, Namgang, Tsespa Chik and Tsespa Soom.
Wangyal also directed Xen PDD to keep one DG Set standby at Chowkhang Vihara on 27th December. He also directed PDD to ensure eight hour power supply in the evening and 5 to 7 power supply in morning in other villages which are dependent on DG Sets. PDD was also directed to illuminate important buildings during Losar festival.
Enquiring about the availability of essential commodities including onion, butter, oil, sugar, K oil, vegetables, mutton, eggs etc, CEC directed Dy Chairman LAHDC Leh to convene a meeting of all the wholesalers of Leh tomorrow with Merchant Association Leh to review the stocking position of all the essential commodities for Leh district.
Wangyal also directed ADC Leh, Dr Zaida to ensure availability of eggs through Animal Husbandry dept during Losar festival and directed FCS&CA and Legal Metrology Departments to control black marketing by conducting surprise market checking. DRC Leh was instructed to provide subsidized commodities as per past practice from cooperative stores including mobile store.
Regarding availability of Juniper ( Shukpa) during Losar festival, CEC directed DFO Leh to ensure required supply of Shukpa in Leh market as per past practice and also directed him to explore and prepare project for Shukpa in the district.
To ensure cleanliness in Leh market during Losar festival, Wangyal directed Municipality Department to do their part and directed District Police Leh to ensure law and order including traffic management during festival. Information Dept Leh was directed to provide proper Public Address System on 27th Dec at Chowkhang Vihara. R&B, MC Leh and Construction Division Leh were asked to remain ready in the wake up of snowfall.
The meeting was attended by Dy Chairman Tsering Sandup, EC Agri Phuntsog Stanzin, EC Education Konchok Stanzin, President LBA P T Kunzang, President LBA Youth Wing Konchok Stak, Secretary Merchant Association Leh Tashi Dawa and HODs headed by ADC Leh Dr Zadia Bano.
