LEH, Nov 13: To review the progress under Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI), Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson chaired a meeting, here today.
The Chief Agriculture Officer gave a presentation covering topics such as organic certification, strengthening farmers through subsidies, collaborative projects with allied departments and the formation of marketing wings.
A detailed discussion and deliberation took place on the current progress of the Mission Organic Development Initiative.
Addressing to the officials, the CEC emphasized the importance of engaging with the army to discuss procurement and pricing of locally produced vegetables from Ladakh as well as with Hotel Association and Vegetables Sellers.
Gyalson also announced that a committee would be established to monitor the organic initiative’s progress and also directed to form marketing team to develop strategies for promoting and selling local vegetables and addressing farmers’ grievances if any.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Deputy Director, CAD, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives and scientists from DIHAR.
